The Supreme Court on Jan 27 observed that highly-educatedgirls from respected families are stepping into the sex trade "driven withthe desire of high lifestyle".
The court exclaimed: "We find girls from very goodfamilies even at the university level education entering the profession drivenwith desire of high lifestyle and going to the malls every second day. If theyjoin it (sex trade) voluntarily, what do you have for them?"
The apex court also asked the government to spell out itsrehabilitation programme for sex workers.

The court was discussing with a special panel which wasappointed to look into the rehabilitation and other measures for sex workers inthe country.
